Editorial policy
Advertising disclosure: This page contains no affiliate links.
These are the rules every Ferncharge page follows.
1. Sources
- Primary sources first. Product figures (capacity, outputs, weight, chemistry, cycle life) come from the manufacturer's own UK spec page, manual or help centre. Safety and legal points come from regulators and official bodies such as GOV.UK, Ofgem, Ofcom, the Civil Aviation Authority, the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland, the UK Health Security Agency, the Food Standards Agency, fire and rescue services and Electrical Safety First.
- No forums, social posts or review sites as sources for facts.
- Every fact is linked to its source, and each page shows its last-checked date.
- Estimates are labelled. Where no published figure exists, we say the number is our planning estimate and explain why. Our assumptions are listed on the methodology page.
- If a maker doesn't state something, we say "not stated by the manufacturer" rather than guess.
2. No testing claims
Ferncharge has not tested any of the products on this site. We don't use words like "tested", "hands-on", "we tried" or "in our experience", and we don't use photos that suggest we own or used a product. Comparisons are on manufacturers' published specs.
3. No rankings, ratings or verdicts
We don't publish "best" lists, scores, star ratings, awards or customer reviews. Tables are in alphabetical order by brand. Where we compare products, we compare like with like on stated specs, and we say which specs and on what date.
4. Prices
We don't state prices, because prices change and a figure we quote could be wrong by the time you read it. Where we list example models, we link to the maker's own UK product page so you can check the current price there. No affiliate links are live yet.
5. Money and independence
No affiliate programme is live yet. When one is, affiliate links will be marked Ad next to each one. Commission never decides which products we include, the order we list them in, or what we say about them. A product with no affiliate programme is treated the same way. No manufacturer pays to be included or sees our pages before publication. See our advertising disclosure.
6. Safety, medical and legal topics
We point to official guidance and the manufacturer's instructions. We don't give medical advice: if you rely on powered medical equipment, check with your equipment supplier or clinician. We don't give electrical-installation advice: connecting anything to home wiring is a job for a qualified electrician.
7. How pages are written and checked
Pages are written by the Ferncharge team. New and updated pages go through a separate fact-check against their cited sources before publishing. Specs are rechecked at least every 3 months, and each page shows its last-checked date. Separately, spec tables carry a "Checked" date for each row, and our build system won't publish a spec table with a row that hasn't been rechecked for 45 days, so most specs are rechecked well before the 3-month limit.
We use AI tools to help research, draft and check pages.
8. Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the change on the page. See our corrections policy.
9. Accessibility and language
We write in plain UK English and explain units (W, Wh, A, V) where they first appear.
